Shine & Strand started as a simple idea: beauty content that treats you like an adult. No miracle claims, no routines that need a ten-step budget — just clear, practical advice you can actually use.
Mission
A more honest approach to beauty
For years, most beauty advice online has fallen into two camps: overwhelming 12-step routines borrowed from a magazine, or vague affiliate content dressed up as a “review.” Neither one actually helps you figure out what works for your skin, your hair, or your five-minute-before-work makeup routine.
Shine & Strand is built around a simpler standard: if it’s recommended here, it’s because it’s genuinely useful — not because it pays the best commission. Every product mention is disclosed, every routine is realistic, and nothing is presented as more dramatic or urgent than it actually is.
Beautician & Founder
Trudy Banks
Trudy is a licensed beautician with 15+ years of hands-on experience in the beauty industry. She trained at Pučko otvoreno učilište Zagreb (2006) and holds a Brevet Professionnel Esthétique from France (2010). Beauty has always been about more than the finished look, to Trudy — it’s about helping people find routines that actually fit their skin, their hair type, and their real life, not an idealized one. Shine & Strand is where she writes about the makeup, hair and skincare topics she gets asked about most. “I’d rather tell you a product isn’t worth it than pretend it is. That’s the whole point of this site.”
